pc me

oh, to be surrounded by atheists and intellectuals. i'm tired of fending off not-at-all-veiled christian propaganda. and the most irritating part is the constant barrage of the "if you're not religious you're obviously a horrible person" sentiment. grr.

why can't people just go back to being politely a-religious except in the privacy of their own compounds?

infectious

oog. i am afflicted with the pre-holiday plague. i stayed home today and i didn't even feel a smidge guilty. this is how i know i am actually sick. i spent the entire day lounging and then about an hour ago i went to the store to get tissues and otherwise sick-rebuffing accessories. and now i'm exhausted again.

stupid sick.

in other news the dog is whimpering in a most desperate manner. i guess i should take him outside before he reenacts the great assdump of '02.

joy to the squirrels

someone i know (ahem, ellie) is always blogging about her fabulous knitting projects, and i've been going nuts since may because when we moved to our new apartment i stashed my yarn and needles somewhere and i couldn't find them. fortuitously i managed to dig them up just in time to knit a scarf for my great grandmother for her 95th birthday. now i'm on a roll!

i currently have two projects underway: i'm making baby blankets for my sister's impending twins, and i'm making myself a scarf. i suppose i may at some point post up pictures (not to horn in on the knitting blog scene or anything...)

here's hoping for another snow day on friday.

save marriage from me

representative boyd from lancaster (a republican of course) is drafting an amendment to the state's constitution that he has kindly dubbed the "pennsylvania marriage protection amendment" (which translates roughly into the "pennsylvania save us from the fucking queers amendment.")

in other states amendments like these have not just made it impossible for queer people to protect their relationships, they've also done lovely things like make it impossible for ANY unmarried people in ohio to seek protection from domestic violence. the amendment in virginia is interfering, to quote an email i recieved yesterday from the center for civil rights, with "the rights of all Virginians to create wills, medical directives, powers of attorney, child custody and property arrangements, and even joint bank accounts."

tell your representatives to stuff this amendment where the sun don't shine.
